The Milan Express Rating System is an accurate, easy-to-use resource for rating U.S. shipments.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
The system requires 400k of system memory to run properly. The system also requires 2MB of free hard disk space.

DOWNLOAD & INSTALLATION
To download the program choose the link above and when prompted choose Run or Open. The Installation Program has prompts that allow you to change the default settings for the Destination Drive and the Directory/Subdirectory. Select Begin Installation when you are ready to install the program. The system will give you the message Installation Complete when the system is installed and prompt you to restart.

RUNNING THE PROGRAM

Using standard Windows procedures, you can choose the Milan Express icon from your computers start menu, OR, you can use Windows Explorer to locate the folder MLXP0407 and then click on file MLXP.exe.

RATING SHIPMENTS
To rate a shipment, type in four pieces of information: Origin Zip, Destination Zip, Class, and Weight. The system gives you a "running total" for your shipment weight and charges after you enter each shipment weight. You can include up to eight class/weight combinations in your shipment, and the system updates the dollar amounts in the Gross Charge, Discount Amount, and Net Charge fields to reflect the updated shipment information. Substitute Class 77.5 and Class 92 for 92.5.

DISCOUNTING
There are several discounting methods available:

Single - one discount percentage for all LTL shipments and a field for a Minimum Charge Floor dollar amount.
Multiple - discount percentages that vary by the weight of the shipment and a field for a Minimum Charge floor dollar amount.
Custom - individualized discount sets. You can create a set of discounts and assign it an identifier, such as an account number, a service center name or code, a state name or abbreviation, or anything else that identifies a unique discounting purpose.
Prompt - Discount Prompt and Minimum Charge Floor Prompts. After you enter your zip code pair, on the rating screen type in a discount percentage and/or a MC Floor to apply to the current shipment.

To set up your discounts:
1.    Select Discounts from the menu bar.
2.    Select a Discounting method

If you select Single Discounts or Multiple Discounts, complete the dialog boxes that appear by typing in discount percentages and the MC Floor.

If you select Discount / MC Floor Prompt, prompts appear below the Destination Zip field. Type in a Discount and / or MC Floor for the current shipment.  For subsequent shipments, you can accept the previous values or type in a new value.

If you select Custom Discounts, you must type in the identifier for the discount set, along with a description of the discount scheme. Then the system displays a dialog box in which you can type your discount percentages. At the Rating Screen, you can then select an existing identifier at the Discount ID field to access a specific discount set.

3.    To de-activate Discounting, set the Use Discounts menu item to OFF.

THE HELP SYSTEM The system now has on-line, context sensitive Help information. At any time, press F1 to display a Help window with specific information about your current location in the system. There is Help information for each menu item, each field, and each feature. The Help System has extensive cross-references as well. Press TAB to move the highlight bar to the next available cross reference, then press ENTER to access that cross-referenced item. You can also access a list of major Help topics from each Help window.

MOUSE SUPPORT
The Milan rating system supports the use of a mouse. Use the mouse to activate any pull-down menu, and to select any items from those menus. You can also use the mouse to select any field for information entry. The keyboard is also available for moving through the system. Use TAB or the arrow keys to move throught the fields on the Rating Screen and in dialog boxes. Use the spacebar to mark/unmark check boxes in dialog boxes.
